Warp Grid

$24.94 $24.94

Warp Grid is a simple component for displaying a texture with some warping applied to it via a grid/lattice system, which can be edited directly in the Scene editor window with an intuitive set of brushes. Warp Grid can be used in 3D scenes, but the warping only happens on the local 2D plane of the object the component is added to.

It works by allowing you to subdivide a grid into as many rows and columns as you need. The points in the grid can then be moved around, sculpted, and coloured with various types of brushes.

As of version 1.4, the Warp Grid Blender component was added, which allows you to add multiple grids to warp a single texture, and blend them together with adjustable influence values. This enables simple animations to be created by animating influence sliders.

This asset has been at minimum tested on Unity 2020.3.12f1 with the built-in renderer and on Unity 2021.1.2f1 with the URP scriptable render pipeline, on Windows 10 and Linux.

Features

  • Simple grid/lattice-based warping system.
  • Intuitive but advanced tools for warping a sprite directly in the Scene editor window.
  • Modify sprites without creating any new asset files.
  • Animate sprites with a simple blend-shape-key system via weighted or additive blending.
  • Crop the borders of a sprite.
  • Create transparent "holes" in the middle of a sprite.
  • Fade-out the edges of a sprite for easy blending with other sprites.
  • Add simple colour highlights to a sprite to break up repetitive textures.
  • Use custom materials and shaders.
  • Works with any renderer: It just uses a Mesh Renderer component with a default sprite material on it to display the generated mesh.
  • Works in 3D scenes, but the warping is always on a flat plane.
