Texture Packer

Do you wanna combine textures into one image easily? Look no further! This simple yet effective tool can save you precious time by doing the boring image alignment job for you.

Packing textures into a single file offers numerous benefits for you and your project:

1. Creating Texture Sheet for VFX

A VFX texture sheet is a common optimization and organization technique when creating particles. One particle system can display many different visuals for its particles or it can play particle animations when using texture sheets.

2. Creating Animation Sheets

Individual 2D animation images can be consolidated into one sheet for playing sprite animations.

3. Improve Game Performance

Using texture sheets can reduce draw calls when multiple instances of the same material are used to render different images from the texture sheet.

4. Better File Organization

Combining multiple image files into one will reduce the number of files in your project.

5. Save your time

Sure you can do the texture combination with most image processing tools, like Gimp, Photoshop or others. But with the Texture Packer, you can achieve the same results with couple clicks.

** Important Notes **

  • This is Editor only tool! Does not work at runtime.
  • Requires Unity 2020 or higher!
  • Supports all rendering pipelines! (URP, HDRP and Build-In)

** Additional Features **

Image sorting

Images are initially sorted by the order they are selected and dragged in, but you can also sort them by their respective filenames. Lastly, you can drag and swap inserted images in the grid.

Pixel art supported

By choosing Point resampling mode, you can combine and resize your pixel art.

Making transparent textures

The Texture Packer can convert black color of your image into transparent alpha. It calculates alpha for every pixel from its blacknes (white pixels remain fully opaque, while darker pixels become more transparent).

** Bonus **

You get 16 custom made particle textures in 2K resolution, so you can try the tool out right away! (You probably don't need 2K resolution for particles, but you can resize them in Unity or by the Texture Packer)
